About PNGRB

According to The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board Act, 2006 (NO. 19 OF 2006), which was published in the Gazette on March 31, 2006, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) was established.

The Act calls for the establishment of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board in order to safeguard the interests of consumers and organisations engaged in specific activities involving natural gas, petroleum products, and other forms of energy as well as to foster competitive markets and address issues that are related to or incidental to those activities.

The board is also required by the act to oversee the production of natural gas and crude oil, but not the refining, processing, storage, transportation, distribution, marketing, and sale of petroleum, petroleum products, and natural gas, in order to guarantee a continuous and adequate supply.
